About Me - Built Different. Designed for Better.

The Science of the 1% (The Zebra Logic)

What it means to live—and build—for a different kind of body

In the medical world, there is a common saying: "When you hear hoofbeats, think horses, not zebras." It means doctors are trained to look for the common, "standard" explanation for a problem.

But for 1% of the population, that logic fails. I have been told so many times that I am a “Zebra.”

Think of it this way: 99% of people are "Horses." They look, walk, and act like horses, so they get treated like horses by the medical profession. Then I come along with a strange blend of 11+ herniated/bulging discs, disc degeneration, arthritis, fibromyalgia, Centralized Pain Syndrome (CPS), essential tremor, and Central Sensitization Syndrome (CSS). Suddenly, every "standard" fix the specialists know about "Horses" can be thrown out the window. I’m just built differently.

The "Weirdness" of a Wired Brain

It’s not just the physical hardware, either. Being a "Zebra" means my "operating system" is unique. I’ve lived with anxiety and depression since I was a teenager, and chronic pain has a habit of "turning up the volume" on those mental battles.

Then there are the "concussion echoes." After a 70+ mph collision in 2000 and another in 2020, my brain developed its own way of processing the world. Sometimes it’s a fog, sometimes it’s a mystery, and sometimes it’s just plain "weird." But over time, I’ve realized that being built this way isn't a defect—it’s just a different set of technical specifications.

From Mystery to Mastery

What comes after realizing you’re built differently? Adaptation.

When the world’s "standard" solutions don't fit your frame, you stop looking for a way to fit in and start looking for a way to stand up. As an IT Guru by trade, I realized that while I couldn't always "re-code" my internal biology, I could troubleshoot my environment.

I spent thousands of dollars and years of my life testing products to see what actually worked for a body that doesn't follow the rules. I wasn't looking for cheap gadgets; I was looking for high-performance tools that allowed me to keep working my IT job, keep taking care of my three kids, and keep the "wear and tear" on my body to an absolute minimum.

The Sleek Space Standard

I founded Sleek Space Mod because I believe you shouldn't have to be a full-time researcher just to find a little relief—or at the very least, a good night’s sleep. We don’t just stock a catalog; we curate a lifestyle of relief.

  • Curated for Comfort: Every item—from our ergonomic massage chairs to our adjustable GhostBeds—is selected because it solves a real-world problem I’ve faced myself.

  • The Sleek Space Mod™ Line: We developed our own signature hybrid mattresses (Core, Lift, and Prime) to provide the high-end support a "Zebra" needs, but at a price point that makes sense for real families.

  • Integrity First: Based in Russellville, Arkansas, we operate with the same values my grandparents, Mike and Etoile Sweeney, had when they started our farm in 1962: integrity, longevity, and looking out for your neighbors.

Take the Helm

When you’ve spent years battling the choppy waters of medical uncertainty, you just need a break from the storm. It’s time to take the helm of your own ship.

We aren't looking for the end of the journey—we’re looking for better navigation. We’ve done the testing and the troubleshooting so you can steer away from the "Medical Mystery" reef and glide into a safe, calm harbor. Our goal is to provide the gear you need to drop anchor, find some true relief, and enjoy the view.

Because when your space is "Sleek," the horizon looks a whole lot brighter.

Welcome to a space designed for you. Welcome to Sleek Space Mod.
